OC Regional Recap

This weekend we participated in the first ever FIRST Robotics Competition Orange Country Regional. In qualification matches, we ended up as the third seed. In the draft, the first seed picked the second seed allowing us to become the second alliance captain. We made it through quarter finals and semi finals without a single loss. In our first match of finals, we won. After that, the first seeded alliance led by team 3476 scored higher than us taking the win for the regional.

Wildcards are generated when a team that is pre-qualified for Championships based on previous performance qualifies again. The wildcards then go through the finalist. Three wildcards were generated meaning that not only did we qualify to go to Championships but both of our alliance partners did as well!

Additionally, we won the Gracious Professionalism Award.

We would like to extend our thanks to all of the mentors, each and every student, the volunteers and planning committee, all of our parents, our alliance partners throughout the event and in eliminations, and to all of the other teams. Congratulations to all of the teams who competed and to the planning committee on a successful first year regional!

Once they are finished being collected, images will be available on our media page or our SmugMug. If you took pictures or video at the event, please send them to us with this form.

New Milken Requirement

Noah Cohen, Staff write for The Roar (Milken’s online newspaper) sat down with team members Zeke L and Jared H to discuss the new Milken requirement of being in robotics. In order to embody the spirit of “we don’t just build robots, we build people,” the school has decided that we should build everybody. This way, Milken will take all of the stupid people and make them either less stupid or eliminate them.

Introducing STREAM

To further our mission, we have taken the concept of STEAM to the next level and have coined the word “STREAM,” adding a new and vital component of the educational process: relationships. The “r” in STREAM could be “robot.” But there is so much more: we love the relationships that come out of being part of our team, part of a school, part of a community, and part of the world.
